Care that meets you where you are

The Alebrije Program is part of IHF, a DOJ Recognized and Accredited immigration nonprofit. It offers two services for our community: individual therapy and written evaluations for your immigration attorney. Both are provided by Dr. Norma Ramirez, a licensed clinical psychologist who has spent her career working with Latino and immigrant communities.

Alebrijes are brightly painted Mexican folk-art creatures, traditionally seen by some as spirit guides who help carry people through difficult passages. The name reflects what this program tries to be: a steady presence on a hard road. You do not need legal status, insurance, or a referral to come.

Who qualifies

• You are 18 years or older.
• You live in North Las Vegas.
• You are dealing with depression, anxiety, or trauma symptoms (therapy program), or your immigration case would benefit from a mental health evaluation.
• You are comfortable being seen in English or Spanish (or both).
• You are willing to attend appointments on a regular schedule.
• You are comfortable with how confidentiality works in therapy. We explain it in your first session.

How IHF helps, step by step

   Reach out

   Call IHF, email info@immigrantfoundation.org with "Alebrije" in the subject, or walk in.

2. 2

   Initial conversation

   A brief intake to understand what you are looking for: therapy, an immigration evaluation, or both.

3. 3

   Therapy program

   When applicable, 12 individual sessions with Dr. Ramirez to understand your symptoms, see how they show up in your life, and build practical ways to cope.

4. 4

   Immigration evaluation

   When applicable, a clinical interview and a written report delivered to your attorney or DOJ accredited representative. Used in U-Visa, VAWA, waiver, and asylum cases.

5. 5

   Follow-up

   After therapy concludes, we connect you with longer-term community partners if you would benefit from continued care.
